Is it ok to attach links to non-scn content?

Dear Moderators,

I hope this is the correct place to post these questions:

I've just read again the rules of engagement, but it's not clear to me ...

1. Whether it is correct or not to attach links to other web pages outside scn, e.g. other discussion forums, other vendor contents, etc. in a discussion thread.

2. To copy paragraphs or literal content from other web pages, always giving a reference to the source and making it clear to the readers that one is not the author of these content.  This question I would ask both for copyrighted and for non/copyrighted material.

Thanks in advance for your response,

Fernando

Yes, you can use other website's link. You just need to be sure that you have enough text which can support to your posted link. These texts should be your own.

You should never copy any content's text from any link. You may read it carefully and share your thought with your own words. But simply copy text is absolutely wrong .

Quoting small amounts of text with correct attribution is fine.

There is a good blog regarding posting links. Make sure there is always something more than a link in what you post. If something can be answered with simply a link (that can be found on Google) then hit the Alert Moderator button because OP should've found the same information before posting.

Mmmmh... answers conflict.  I like Matthew's because I think that's OK too (not unethical nor "trouble-generator" for SAP).

Not knowing which position is the correct one, I'll assign points according to my own belief.  Thanks Dibyendu and Matthew for your reply.

Your belief coincides with what was decided at the moderators' council. The main point is that content must be original, not comprising solely or mainly other people's work (even if it's public domain), and where other people's work is used, it is properly referenced.

Ok, thank you for clarifying Matthew
