COLLECTIVE ORDER SCRAP AND MRP QUANTITIES FOR HEADER MATERIAL
Case: We have a customer requirement of 100 pcs and we enter a Production order for 100 pieces of finished product.
This order is linked collective to child components.
Initial MRP situation:
Child components.
Confirm 90 pieces of both the child component production orders and scrapped 10 pieces on both.
Note: The last operation is just for capacity planning, in any case the next to last operation has status CNF. There is no more to produce.
Situation of the Header production order:
Final MRP situation:
The MRP still has open quantity for the Header PrdOrd when in reality no further declarations can be done.
Is there a configuration that would reduce this requirement so that the MRP would be able to propose a new planned order?
Or is there any other workaround?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
David
Hi David,
Please try these below.
1. I see that your order is partially confirmed with PCNF status. Please do another confimation with quantity 0 but this time set the confirmation type to Final Confirmation. This will change the order status to CNF status.
2. Please set the production order to Technically complete (TECO). This will confirm that the production only produced for 90pcs instead of 100pcs. This will eventually remove the production order from MD04 screen.
Your stock will be updated to 90pcs. However since the customer order requirement is 100pcs, please execute MRP again and system will propose a new planned order to produce 10pcs.
Hope the above will help. Test it once.
Thanks

David,
Please close the order Technically it should remove open and unwanted requirements from MD04.

Kiran,
That would probably work but we usually don't force the Technical completion because we have a scheduled job that does this weekly based on production order statuses and quantities confirmed + scrap. One of the reasons we created this job is due to the fact that we don't allow negative quantities and until all records in COGI are cleared we can't TECO the order.
As you can immagine, these production orders are misleading and results in time consuming redundant checking of production order statuses. The risk is to miss a customer requirement and end up planning late.
Any other thoughts?

David,
One approach could be confirm the order with final confirmation and clear reservation this way system understands that there are no further movements pending.
You snap shot shows you have done with partial confirmation so can try with another scenario for same situation with final confirmation and see if that works.

Being that in our business model the scrap declarations are done the next day by the production secretaries, it will not be easy to understand if they have entered all scrap or are still waiting for more sheets.
In any case this is an organizational issue which needs to be addressed.
Thank you for your input.
