we are looking for a feasible way to mass move several thousand spare parts from our warehouse to the appropriate bins in one operation.

We are looking into the webservice option!

Scenario: Company A wants to sell Company B (both Live and on the same tenant) spare parts because Company B is going to conduct their own service/support in the future. We already have split the BINs into A and B. We were splitballing with the idea to simply create a sales order/purchase order but the confirmation part would be very tedious. Reason: Although the stock for company B is already in the correct place, it is possible that a spare part could be located in several BINs and locating the correct source BIN would mean manual confirmation. We were thinking about doing a mass inventory adjustment in both companies (we got the financial part covered).

Hi Bastian,

The above mentioned web service will work for moving goods under one company. Not between two companies.

You have mentioned Company A wants to sell products for Company B. You have also mentioned that Company B has all the stock in place.  Could you clarify here ? Do you mean the stock is physically transferred from A to B and you have not mapped it into ByD system yet ?

To perform goods movement in mass you can try and use the web service 'InventoryProcessingGoodsAndActivityConfirmationGoodsMovementIn'.  This web service details and documentation can be accessed from the 'Service Explorer' view from 'Application and User Management' work center. More details of the web service is given below.

Well before answering your question i might need to ask you following query.

1. Is your system live or in implementation stage(pre go live) ?

2. your question is this  -  we are looking for a feasible way to mass move several thousand spare parts from our warehouse to the appropriate bins in one operation.

can you explain your requirement in detail with following set-up an an example

Take -  P1100 as site , p1100-0 as storage location and P11010-10, p1100-30 p1100-20 as logistics area (Bin) under this ?

3. It would help if you explain what is the business reason also so that we may suggest the best possible option for you?
