Maybe you should just delete by deletion flag.

please try to go ME22N, select the item and click the delete button(Rubbish bin Icon).

What does your remove mean ? First forget about the date and concentrate on remove.

I suggest, read some help document regarding these two terms "delete purchase order" and "archive purchase order"

Then validate your question again. Once you got some light , then first try it in your SAP system.

Are you knowing what you are doing?

Just asking a bit provoking since I don't believe that this ever could be real valid business scenario.

In the real world someone would miss the ordered material already the day after the delivery date.

The requester would ask the buyer to ask the vendor where the material is.

This would result in a new delivery date, or in the decision to cancel the order and create an order to a different vendor.

So this is mainly a manual activity by deleting an order case wise.

There has to be communication going on between you and your vendors. A PO is an agreement, a cancellation is just a desire of one party, if the other does not agree then you have to accept the delivery, even when it is late and you missed to remind the vendor.

Technically you can delete POs en mass with MEMASSPO, with the right search term you should have found countless posts, e.g. this search term in Google has 3750 hits: remove open PO site:scn.sap.com

Well, if you google "remove the open po's older than 01.03.2015" then it's clear how OP had little success with search.

I agree - rather strange someone placed an order and then never followed up since March 1st or January 3rd (depending what continent you are on). Looks like I manage my personal Amazon account better than that company does their business...
