Strugglig to make use of SDK BYO Datasources

SDK BYO sounded as a perfect solution for my custom datasources, however I have hit some major obstacles. Below are three different problems that I can't overcome when using BYO datasource:

1. When chart is using a BYO datasource swap axes property not functioning

2. When BYO datasource is populated via script it sorts data ascending even though the Sort Method property was set explicitly to NONE.

3. It is not possible to make use of combine chart types e.g. one measure shown as columns and other as line. When BYO is populated via script all measures switch to single chart type, columns or lines only.

Each of these obstacles is a showstopper on its own and makes the use of this useful component rather impractical when used with charts.

I would appreciate any advice on how to overcome the above obstacles. BTW. I am using DS 1.4

Many thanks

I think I fixed one of these sorting bugs in the 1.5 version but our addons are no longer maintaining any 1.4 version

Sorry you are running into these problems, this was kinda of a "quick and dirty" component for limited uses but it has turned out I've seen a lot of people using it for rapid prototyping after all!

Maybe I can do some more face-lift work to it but I'd rather do this in 1.5.

How long will you be staying on 1.4?  I may be able to throw together a one-off version just for you if I have time free up next month.  FYI David Stocker posted a sneak-peak of a new CSV data source component coming in 1.6 that may work better long term.

PS. The Swap Axes in the Chart component problem I have noted before, and nothing I can do about it.  I did offer a way to rotate that on the BYO Data Source though - Check the 'Measures in Rows' option there.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for getting back. We should be going to 1.5 this months. I have played with BYO's 'Measure in Rows' option but had a different issue there. I'll have another look again when we move to 1.5.

I'll check David Stocker's post for 1.6 to see if the new CSV data source might be an option for us.

Many thanks for your help
