SAP PI 7.4 Installation

Hello colleagues,

I do need some help on SAP PI installation. Every time I'm trying to install it fails on deployment phase with strange Java-related error. Could you suggest if there any installation guide for this release and/or any specific tricks while installing on virtual machines (VMWare 11). I'm using Windows Server 2012R2, SQL Server 2012.

Hi Vishnu,

I have installed NetWeaver 7.4 in accordance to this guide:

Installing SAP NetWeaver 7.4

The installation was successful, but what's next? Should I now install Process Integration or it's already there?

And, there is one more question: what about SLD if I have deployed NetWeaver on the isolated virtual machine? I don't really understand the role of it... can you clarify?

So, PI is already there and there is no necessity to install something else, right?

What about SLD? Post installation steps require it's configuration and this bit is not quite clear.

Apart from it, documentation says:

To start the CTC Wizard, perform the following steps:

1. Start the SAP NetWeaver AdministratorSpecify the following information in your browser: http://<host>:<httpport>/nwa
2. Choose Configuration Scenarios Configuration Wizard
3. Choose Functional Unit Configuration UI
4. Choose Functional Unit SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (PI)
5. Choose Enable automatically

Can't find such a component in Functional List, so, I can assume that something is missing...

Hi Aleks,

what is the package you have selected while installation i.e.  process integration or process integration and orchestration? if it is process integration it will be present or else it will be present as process integration and Orchestration.

Nope, I haven't selected none of them. It seems that I only installed NetWeaver with dynpro portal. So, I need to install it separately?

Hi Aleks,

yes if you want to install pi/po you need to select the package whether it is pi or po at the install screen respectively. and you need to copy all the installation media.

i am searching the NW 7.4 PI Installation Guide???

I only find the NW 7.4 Installation Guide but not for PI 7.4?

Can someone provide me a link (Unix/Oracle) ?
