hierarchy datasource in 7.x

Hi,

When i am in RSO2 in ECC to create a data source, i don't see any master data heirarchy datasource. Also in BW, i am trying to create a FF datasource, but donot see master data heirarchy data source. I see only transaction ds, master data text and attribute ds. I am using 7.x flow.

Hi,

if your don't see any master data hierarchy data source mean no one created or used hier data source on yiour server.

Actually what you want create now?

at ECC side Check table ROOSOURCE,try to see the data sources which are belongs to hierarchies.

While displaying the data from above table use OLTP Source name as  *Hier* and remove restrcitions 200 and execute it.

it will shows the data sources which are exsit on server. later use active version and find the data sources which are in active.

Please search on Google and get the best docs about the same.

Use Google search key as "Custom hierarchy extraction".

You may 3 links which are in series(part1,part2..etc) please go thru them.

at Bw side, while creating a data source, you won't see an option to select type of data source?

in that we may have like transactional,attributes/text/hier types?

Yes, i see the 3 documents.. but for Flat file source system, i donot see the option for heir achy DS creation in BW side when i am trying to create DS in datamodelling -> datasource

Hi Jackie,

Goto RSA1 - DataSource and select the FlatFile source system.

2. Right Click on any of the nodes and say create DataSource, you will get an option to create a DS for Hierarchies.

Refer for more details. I guess you missed to search in SCN before posting the question.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot... i am not sure why i am not able to see heirarchy structure. unfortunately i cannot paste a screenshot but after following the same steps as  mentioned in your reply, i am still not able to see heirarchy..But nevertheless, your screenshot is proof enough that there is a way to create heirarchy for flat file in BW ..thanks umashankar

Please refer to document . It contains an example in the HR area but the approach can be applied in other areas too. It was for me a guideline how to create a custom WBS Element Hierarchy extractor.

Hi Jackie,

You will not see datasources related to hierarchies in RSO2 in ECC, there is a separate procedure to create hierarchy datasource.

Check the document  ,

Hope it helps, normally hierarchies are loaded via FlatFiles. T-Codes GS01 and BWO7 is used to in process of hierarchy DS creation in ECC. Please search the forum for more information.
