Description tab in Appraisal Template

Hi,

I tried to enter text in Description Tab in Appraisal Template. I maintained text in HTML format and chose web layout as the option.

But system is throwing a warning message " You have maintained a description that is not displayed."

Irrespective of this i released the template thinking its only warning message.But in portal the text is not getting reflected, instead the columns that i choose in the columns tab are getting displayed which is not my requirement.

Please guide me on this if any additional settings are required.

Go to the tab 'Columns'. Check the 'Web settings' part. There is a field 'Text layout'.  Select 'Name and Description'.

Thanks for the reply.I tried that way and happy that text is getting displayed.

Now the problem is along with the text, the columns are also getting displayed which i selected in Columns tab.Because if i don't select columns at template level, they would not flow down to category group.

Guide me on this,as of how only text should be displayed and bot columns.

Can you clarify which level's description you need to be displayed. Is it the template's description or the description of some lower element?

Has the second problem come up only after changing the setting I mentioned? Or were the columns displayed earlier?

Could you send a screenshot of the form and highlight the issue?

It is there from beginning.Previously only columns came.After i made changes according to your settings happy that description is coming but along with columns.

I don't think you can hide the columns, but what you can do is disable them for entry at the template level. In the Columns tab, against each column, select No entry, no note.
