filter variable key and text / display characteristic only as key

Former Member

Hi experts

There is a characteristic, setting in BW workbench:

Display: Key and text

text type: short text

BEx query designer needs this characteristic as a filter variable; additionally also as characteristic under rows.

The characteristic as filter variable should provide key and text for the user in the variable prompt.

The result itself only as key.

My current setting doesn't work.

Any proposals?

Thanks

You can keep required display settings(BEx tab) at info object maintenance level itself by using Tx - RSD1.

After settings at info object level, try to re-generate your query thru RSRT and later you can run thru Bex Analyzer.

Hi Raman

Thanks, but  it didn't work.

Just to explain it more clearly, attached please find the screens:

char setting in workbench, RSD1:

Filter setting in BEx query, here I need key and text:

Setting for the display in rows, at this stage we can select only key; but after pressing the SAVE button, the filter setting will also be set to keys!

Probably I have done the wrong thing.

What's wrong?

Thanks

You have not informed us where the user is running the query ?

Portal or analyzer ?

You can choose setting for that characteristic as key to display in rows and for filter it should be default display key and text.

I checked the same on my system when i run the query in RSRT2.

Hi Anshu

There was a total misundestanding on my own.

RSD1 setting is on key and text.

Now I have set filter and display char on key.

In filter it shows key and text and as display only key.

Great!

Thanks.

Hi Thomas,

- The answer to this might be obvious, but ... have the characteristic's texts been loaded?

- If you place the characteristic under rows is it showing texts?

Hi Fernando

Yes, text has been loaded.

The query shows text in BEx Analyzer.

Thanks

Hi Thomas,

I think you cannot have dual display behavior for the same characteristic at two different places.

If you select Text and Key, it will display both wherever applicable (Selection screen, Rows, Columns)
