I have one special requirement where I have to block delivery for certain production materials (batch managed) which are to be sent for inspection purpose (here QM is not activated-manual inspection done) During inspection, we want to tag these material as "Not for shipment or Not for Delivery."
After inspection, these materials can go for shipment/delivery. I know about the concept of restricted use stock. Can we use the same concept for this requirement ? If yes then how we can configure or is there any other alternative solution from MM-SD-PP side ?
Thanks a lot Jurgen.
Hi Deepak, your solution should/must also work. One thing I would like to ask over here, if I want to transfer my stock to another storage location along with stock type change, will system allow me to transfer this stock if my material is batch managed ?
In my scenario,Batch is managed at plant level.
Un-restricted batch say abc0001 is present in sloc RC00.
I want to send this batch to sloc RC01 for Inspection purpose.
Whenever I change stock type using 322 movement, system gives an error batch abc0001 is not available in sloc RC01.
How can I tackle this issue ? or is there any another way to do it?
Regards,
Sudarshan.

Hi,
How to restrict delivery creation for restricted use stock
Without quality management active- you can create reservation(MB21) for materials to avoid any movement of your materials and once quality inspection over, then go for issue of the materials WRT reservation number.

It seems you can post the stock to Quality inspection and in availability checking rule combination ..standard..B...Quality inspection stock is not considered for delivery.

Restricted is a batch status which is activated in IMG > Logistics general > Batch management > Specify Batch Level and Activate Status Management
and works in general and is not depending on QM activation.
Tagging could also be done in batch classification.
And with the batch determination you could ignore batches that are classified as "not for shipment.." this would not even require the restricted status.
Material and sales status would not be the best choice as those status apply to all stock and not just a particular part of the stock. If batch 1 already passed all checks then it will also be blocked by those status until they are removed from material master.

Hi,
As you already mentioned, you may flag the specific batch as "restricted" in MSC2N and maintain the message M7665 as error message in OLMB - Define Attributes of System Messages.

MM-PP : Check the field Plant-specific material status in Purchasing and MRP 1 view of the material master record.
SD : Check the fields Cross-Distribution-Chain material status & Distribution-chain-specific material status in Sales: sale org. 1 view.
These fields are used to block the material movement at different stages e.g., for procurement, for sales and for inventory management.
