can S4 Hana migration be performed before month end closing?

Our client is looking for S4 HANA Finance migration to be done during mid of the month (during their shut down period). As per SAP guidelines, I know that S4 migration has to be done immediately after closing month end. Can you please advise whether it is feasible to do in the mid of the month? if Yes, what are the challenges to be faced, mitigation plans etc., ?

First a correct, the product name is S/4HANA and not S4 HANA.

Coming to your specific question, why S/4HANA Migration cannot be done in the middle of the month:

    1. The financial totals table (GLT0 in case of classical GL and FAGLFLEXT in case of New GL) are eliminated in S/4HANA and Financial Statements are now drawn from Universal Journal. Since there is a fundamental architecture change, the month end processing needs to be completed

    2. You will be using new Asset Accounting which is mandatory with S/4HANA. The old depreciation program would be eliminated and replaced with a new Depreciation engine. So you need to complete the depreciation run before you can complete the migration.

    3. If you are using the functionality of material ledger, the old tables are also eliminated and Stock value and qty are now updated in the Universal Journal, so you must complete the month end close and than only do the migration,

These are just some of the many reasons.
