How to add another URL Alias to an existing Application on Java AS

Hi Experts,

I'm a little surprised that I don't find any information about the following topic.

Does anyone know how I can add another alias to an already deployed application on a Java AS? To be more specific, it's important for us to add another alias to the list shown in the  screenshot:

I do not want to create a system alias or a logon group alias.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks and Greets, Tim

What kind of Java system is this, I looked briefly through a PI system and don't see SLSRedirectEAR?

Hi Bill, thanks for replying.

SLSRedirect is an custom application on a normal plain java instance. In this case it's just an example. I'm looking for a possibity to add an alias to any application.

Would a webdispatcher be an option for you to leverage?

Nope, already considered 😕 🙂

Leveraging the adobe component (common ground hopefully) I found this in the config tool editor mode and found a matching alias; if your custom application is showing up there you should be able to add more alias lines to the overall system, not 100% of the format though.

I don't have this tool yet and I'm still hoping for an "easier" solution (in best case directly with the netweaver administration tool), but I thank you very much and will give it a try tomorrow.

This tool comes with every SAP Java system, it is currently the only way I'm aware of to modify items in the Java system if the system isn't starting or you need to have startup process behave differently from the norm.

The issue with the NWA tool is that you can't modify startup of all items, I use NWA when I want to see what the running parameters are for a Java system and I use the config tool to change the parameters based on the scenario.

Of course, you are right. My fault.

I've started the configtool.sh and found my application in the apps folder. Furthermore I've found a SAP application (sso~otp~ear) which has more than one alias.

I've reproduced this settings in my app, but I still only see one alias. I guess there is missing some kind of link to make it work.

I assume you also hit save in the config tool and restarted the Java system?

Sure, I even restarted the whole Server inadvertently
