Hello,
We have a requirement from the customer...
They want to consolidate the multiple sales orders into one delivery via VL10C/VL04 for below combinations:
Scnerio1 - Based on the combination of Same Delivering plant, shipping point and ship to party (From different sales orders to create 1 single delivery)
Scnerio2* - Based on the combination of same ( delivering plant + ship to party ) with multiple shipping points (From different sales orders to create 1 single delivery ie.,Shipping point could be diiferent for each line item in each sales order )
Kindly suggest...the best way to work on this requirement.
Regards,
Mazhar Ali
Hi Ali and All,
So do you see any standard setting (customization) where that will allow to create single delivery when there are multiple shipping points in the sales order (multiple line items).
I do have the similar requirement and looking for the feasibility. I am not sure whether system will allow to create single delivery when there are multiple shipping points as the shipping point is in header level in the delivery and at item level in sales order.
If any one has idea kindly share.
Thanks,
Raj

No, there is no such configuration in SAP.
What is more, there is no reason to have it.
There is a good reason why a customer has more than one shipping point for a plant and it is that he wants to deliver some of the products in a different way than the rest. So combining items with different shipping points in a delivery defeats the purpose to have more than one shipping point in the first place.
In case you need to redetermine the plant and shipping point for some very special process for the ordered products, this should be done in the order itself (the easiest way is to force a different shipping condition for the order and based on that determine the same shipping point for all items or via a user exit to determine one of the manual shipping points for a certain item).
Why on earth would you define multiple shipping points and then want to create a single delivery for all of them? If there are multiple shipping points then either they were needed to process the orders differently or they actually correspond to different physical locations. Having one delivery in such case would completely defeat the purpose of having multiple shipping points in the first place.
Hello Mazahar & Raj,
We should understand the purpose of delivery.
Basically Delivery is created to initiate the shipping activities (picking/packing/Pgi..) and these activities are takes care by shipping point. No matter many shipping points are assigned to one plant BUT shipping activities are taking care by shipping point separately.
Thanks why we create the delivery at shipping point level and for each delivery created with single shipping point.
I hope it will clear you discussion.
Thanks,
Prashant Sharma
Prashant,
I like your explanation but if we go into nuances, packing is not based on shipping point or for that matter delivery. Packing in SAP can be done at sales order, delivery level. Depending upon the business, not all delivery item categories must or will have packing.
Deliveries are not created at shipping point level, they are created at shipping point and shipto party combination level.
And all this is how SAP has designed it. In other words, it is not right or wrong, it is just SAP's way.

Hello Folks,
Thank you for your suggestions and I totally agree with all of you. The reason to check this out is based on the requirement.
In the sales order there will be multiple line items with finished product and components, where as the finished product is delivered from different location (shipping point - location 1) and components will be delivered from different location (shipping point - location 2) wherein they want these to be one delivery. First the finished product is picked and they will go to the second location to pick the components (based on the order confirmation).
Thank you once again.
Regards,
Raj.
How about using a delivery group (VG01/02/03)?
Thanks,
Juwin

Mazhar,
On what criteria has client created several shipping points in the same plant?
Plant is same (one), what is different the shipping conditions and or the loading group? and why?
If this is a long term business need for all processes, then think of having one shipping point instead of many.

Hi,
This is not possible from my point of view.
Why this:
The shipping point is taken into account for the determination of the route (in combination with the shipping condition and the transportation group).
You can only have one shipping point be delivery on header level.
Best regards
Patrick

But Patrick's other point is valid.
You can only ever have 1 shipping point in the delivery (Field LIKP-VSTEL). So if you have 10 items in a sales order, each having a different shipping point, it is not possible to combine them into one delivery as the system will not know which shipping point to select from the sales order.
Noel,
I agree with Patrick and You, in SAP, we can not have more than 1 delivery. But looking at it geographically, there could be one route (starting point - plant, end point - SH are same). That is the reason I ask Mazhar if he could have just one shipping point (instead of many) at sales order level (create "common" shipping point)
