MSDS extract not displaying revision date and version ?

Hello Experts,

Our Customer  would like to have the ability to batch (i.e. pull multiple documents from the system at once) SDSs from SAP to an external folder. We are using Program YEHS_MSDS_Extract  which get s the Data from table ESTDH and document from DMS and check out the document to External drive,

We are facing issue as none of Parameter symbol such Revision Date, Version are found on document  see below  screen shot

in contrary if i open the same document in CG54 i can see  (highlighted below), system dynamically populating in word while executing from Cg54

where as in data base table where document is stored or say accessing via DMS (CV03) this comes blank.

Question - How to have this date filled or is there is another way to extract the document which gives same out put as CG54 ?

Any help appreciated.

Dear Gopi

topic has been discussed very often. In last two years interest here was not so high. There is no need to use "Z Report". E.g. check:

Using "Z Report" you will always have issues with parameter symbols or you need to prepare clever blue print to acoid this (and then do prepare corresponding programming)

The Version etc. is not stored in DMS tables. They are  part of ESTDH.and other similar tables.

PS: it is strongly recommended to´check SAP online help and the options to "Export" MSDS/SDS using SAP approach; this is the right approach to use and SAP standard and used regarding many purposes

PPS: regarding the same topic you will find as well many documents not only on SCN. E.g. EHS report exporting in PDF - Toolbox for IT Groups

E.g. document:

references toa lot of "similar" threads (but there are to many of the "same" kind !)

Hello CB, Thank You very much for your response, I reviewed most of thread but it seem like all are custom solution but still were not sure if we can download same as Cg54 documents I am not sure if  Parameter symbol which are generated or inserted in document would work with user exit. I appreciate your experience in this area or specific route you suggest how to bulk download with Parameter symbol (SDS. Thank You, Gopi Dadheech

Hello Gopi,

SAP Standard provides a good and flexible way to extract final reports (that means the Parameter symbols are resolved) from SAP EHS.

Please see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/42/a2ce5314894208e10000000a174cb4/content.htm

Hope this helps

Dear Gopi

please check link as mentioned by Mark. Only as an on top example:

As mentioned. Topic has been discussed quite often. SAP approach is a good one (even if many customers use on the top development)

Hello CB, Thank you, I am using now SAP Note 1535067 - EH&S WWI: Generating PDF files. We are using MS word 2007 with Sp3 but still can not generate the PDF, I made the necessary .ini file changes but not sure do i have to have the PDF converter is needed on server or MS word will convert to PDF. As per the note, entry is required CmdExit="" %target% %source%  at same time note also says - If you are using Microsoft Word 2007 SP2 or 2010 or later, and you want to use the integrated PDF conversion, no other settings are required in the WWI server. any help is appreciated. Dear Gopi

may be check this SAP Note 1535067 - EH&S WWI: Generating PDF... | SCN and links mentioned there. May be they help.

Generell: PDF generation belongs to top 10 asked questions in context of use of WWI. Therefore may be links as mentioned here might help as well:

Dear Gopi

small add on: if you now use report: RCVDCREO to do the job: any WWi server must be set up the same way so that you will get pdf files. The process uses the "report distribution" general process. I did not check once again the current OSS regarding WWI: but if i remember correct this is now the story. in former times you need to "add" additional software on WWI server to generate "pdf" files. Now you can use WinWord. As we are not using RCVDCREO process I can not help further.

HI Gopi,

If you get a PS file instead of a DOC file please check your EHS customizing.

You should be able to switch from PS to DOC. (I think the Business-process should be DOK-X Export).
