What could be the best way to create product brands under one company code?

Hi,

My client has only one company code 1000. They have 10 different bands and each band has 10-12 products under it. So now what will be the best way to create product brands, where to define them in SAP and how will it work?

Regards,

Singh

PS,

I agree with Jelena, from your post we will assume many things and reply, those suggests might cause more harm than benefit to you/your company.

First step is to forget about SAP and jargon (brand, sub brand etc.) In clear ways, pen down how you want to structure your products (level1, level2 etc.) and why? what reporting do you want to do? etc. etc. Ask various stake holders - managers, business users, management committee, what visibility each group wants.

Second step search in internet how companies in the same industry have structured they products and in ERP system, if you can.

Third, if you can hire a consultant (maybe MM) explain him your products, product groups and what you want to see in SAP, and then he will be able to give you some input.

For one client, they have one division (product group in SAP) and lots of different products - beverage, packaging, snack etc. Another client has different (with this example, it has 3 divisions).

The key is to have the minimum possible objects (1 is better than 3 and 3 is better than 10)...so keep that in mind.

The clearer you are as to where you want to take your ERP, what needs it should fulfil, the better design and choices you will get in this implementation stage.

How can this question be answered intelligently when it's not clear what functionality those "brands" are expected to have? Please also clarify what research you have done before posting. It's more productive to ask, for example, "I've looked at option A and option B - which one is best?" instead of just "what are my options?".

Hi Singh,

I would set up each brand as a Division. I would assign each product to its brand's Division, and then create a default Division if they need to sell products from multiple brands on the same sale order.

Hope this helps!
