Dear Krishna

not sure what you are looking for.

As discussed in parallel threads:

also what are the different methods we follow to do the mass update ? => depends on your needs (not sure in which direction your are thinking)

After a mass update of whatsover need to be done in most cases you need to execute subsequent actions.  E.g. execution of rule sets; release of reports (e.g. SDS/MSDS) etc.

Can we use data editor for doing mass update in the specification ?

If we use the term "OCC" (as the follower or Data Editor): you can do updates according to my knowledge; but I never tried it; but according to my knowledge only for "regulatory content".

As discussed in parallel thread. The options in use of "Easy expert" are quite limted. In most case you would try to generate own rule sets (or buy)

Not really sure that this helps for your quesition

PS: very high level: you can use IDOCs as well to do mass updates: Never tried it

I was trying to see if we can do mass change for existing data in characteristics values in VAT . It can be regulatory or physical chemical properties . How difficult it is to do that and do company follow that trend or do we have any other alternatives ? when you say data editor are u referring to occ  or only data editor ?

Dear Krishna

we are not using OCC or DataEditor solution. But for "regulation update" some special data must be present to do using OCC; in theory you could try to use the same for physical chemical poperties: never tried (as we ar enot using OCC)

Regarding update of VAT and characteristic: depending on the "specific" need: one potential option is the "easy expert". But I would clealry prefer "expert"; but then per "update" you need your own rules etc. and  therefore: i would assume nobody is using the "expert" to do the update. Depending on size of company /and number of data)to change): I would expect that either it is done "manually" or a "one ad only" report is generated.

Regarding:

when you say data editor are u referring to occ  or only data editor ?  => as there is only one DataEditor aviablae (and not supported any more or only as a service): OCC is the "mass" import tool; and for regulatorydata you can do updates as well.

Hi Krishna,

As Christoph said, it depends on your data. if you want to do an update of content data that has been delivered by some comtent provider, you should use their recommnded tool, whatever it is. If you want to do a mass update of data that you maintained yourself, the OCC is probably the method of choice. Easy Expert can be used, but is quite cumbersome.

Dear Krishna

if you need e.g. services to support yoou: may be this might be of interest;

EHS consulting solution: Data migration for specification data and phrases | Notes | ERP Champs

But clealry: Many companies does have knowledge about "data migration" or "mass updates" in databases and especially in SAP environment; this is nearly one of the most importing core capabilites of a company (acting as a service provider) for a set up of a SAP based system
