Absences on CATS or Leave request?

Hi Team,

    Could you share what is the procedure that you have in your company in regards to absences? Do you avoid absences in CATS and obligate the employees to use leave request or the other way around? We are trying to find the best approach in our implementation but I would like to hear how other companies decided it (and what was the rationale behind it).

Hi

It all depends on client requirement. But let me share you my experience.

If there is no limitations and you want to give rich and robust application, then must implement leave application. This is really good and have 10 times more feature than if you maintain through CATS.

Keep CATS option open for overtime and other stuffs.

If you have time see the application end to end for leave request and CATS ( on portal ). You will get to know by yourself.

Thanks Ajay; I'm very familiar with CATS and the leave request, just want to know how other companies decided to implement the procedure. I have already discussed the pros and cons of every alternative with the users, but they would like to know what others decided and why. Thanks again

I would say, leave request is robust, rich in feature for creating leave request. Every client would be happy to get it.

Only thing, if you are paying only if employee is filling hours in CATS, you may ignore leave application, but all other purpose, leave request is a king.

One good reason to add:

you may create leave request for longer period in one transaction on portal. In CATS, you have to go week by week.

You should recommend your client for leave request as it is most accepted in all companies. CATS can be used for the same, but leave request application is meant for it while CATS is for lots of other things at a time.

I have also mentioned that in the leave request the employee can see much more things, such as his coworkers leaves and the quota details, besides that with leave request you can attach things and have specific workflow configurations for the approval (or not workflow at all). But they wanted to know about other companies experiences, lets see if someone else chime in and share. Thank you so much Ajay!

As far as i know, We can go with CAT's when we have WBS structure in the scope i hope you know WBS Since CAT's is having that functionalities etc else we can go for leave request option.
