How to Determine Language for Report shipping

Former Member

Hello Gurus,

We are using Language Z8 instead of EN for MSDS for US, while creating a report shipping system generate 2 shipping order one with lang EN and another with Z8,

I have configured the node Assign Language and Lead Time to Country for US and mentioned the language as Z8 but still get 2 entries in CVD1 (EN &Z8).

Shall appreciate if you can share how to have only one shipping order generated with language Z8 for US.

Thank You,

Hi Gopi,

The customer get's the SDBs in the following languages:

  • Language(s) you did set up in the mentioned customizing activity
  • Communication language as defined in the customer master / report recipient record

Most likely the later one is defined as EN and not Z8 and therefore you get requests in Z8 and EN.

Hope this helps

Hello Mark,

Thank You, What is best way to deal with this situation as changing the changing the customer communication EN to Z8 may impact another processes of printing other documents ?

Either to use another partner function or enhancement ?

Any other thought ?

Hello Gopi,

I would recommended to use an enhancement / customer exit for this.

Creating a new partner function and the data maintenance going along with this is adding quite some extra work.

There is a customer exit in report shipment that determines the language version of the MSDS. I would try to use that exit.

Hope this helps

Dear Gopi

hint form Mark might be the best option. Exit is: EXIT_SAPLC1CA_004. Check customizing. Here you can defíne additional conditions to select the language to be used for report shipping.
