RFC Server not available

Hi Experts,

We are trying to create a RFC connection in Management console, but we are getting RFC Server not available issue.

Can you please help us here to resolve the issue.

And also why do we need to create a RFC connection if we are using SAP BW as a source?? and do we need to create a RFC connection if we use SAP Application as source(ECC) if not what type of configurations we should setup to connect ECC System.

Please help us here to understand the difference.

Hi,

In case of SAP ECC , the need of RFC connection depends on the functionality that you want to implement.

In case of Inbound process  there is no need to create RFC as BODS can directly connect to SAP system.

In case of OUTBOUND there must be a RFC connection so that SAP system can identify the BODS system for data exchange.

For connection related:

For Inbound - Create a datastore in BODS designer with server, user, pwd , client , directory. This is all that is required. From SAP end we need Partner profiles for IDOC transfer (Basis team can handle this). For BAPI or RFC function call we do not need any other configuration from SAP end.
For Outbound: Datastore connection is necessary from BODS end, RFC connection in BODS Management console. Partner profile and RFC configuration from SAP End.

If RFC connection is created in Console and still you are not able to see the server connection then there might be service issue. Follow the link given above.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks
