WBS creation error through BAPI

Dear All ,

I am getting an error during the creation of WBS through BAPI

Our Project Profile have Only one root Indicator set. Error comes on those cases where already Multiple WBS are exist on level 1 and then if we try to create NewWBS through BAPI. 

BAPI is sending the response in error that Several WBS elements on level 1 is not allowed Message No CJ719

This is only the information message if new WBS create directly through CJ02 but BAPI is sending this message as an error.

Request you to please help in this matter.

Let me know if any more information is required on this.

Thanks for your input ,

I had already checked with Business and they don't have idea on this why this changes was done so i have already unticked the only one root check in profile for resolving this issue.

actually there was technical upgrade happened to EHP7 and after go live of this changes , BAPI is sending this information as an error before that no such cases reported even the profile have only one root indicator set.

So this is due to Upgrade and if yes then is there any solution to do the correction on this.

Hi Amit,

if you think the error is introduced after upgrade i would suggest to raise an OSS message.. maybe someone might have changed the error message to warning in previous release and after upgrade it has over written it..

better off by raising an OSS..

Hi Sunil ,

You are right system will not allow to create WBS at Level 1 if only one root indicator is set in profile but these are the case where project have already multiple WBS at level 1 and as per process system allowed to create WBS at 2nd or 3rd level by only giving Information message.

My question here is system allowed me to save the same through project builder but not through BAPI.

Hi Amit,

Why was the project profile changed to have only one root when you had existing project where you had multiple level 1 WBSes??

easy way to fix the problem would be to  make the one root unchecked? Please check with your business why the one root was introduced?

Hi Amit,

this look like somebody changed Project Profile for One root Indicator with having existing project with multiple level 1 WBS.

Please check with business and if yes than take necessary action.

change this setting than use BAPI for creation of WBS.

Hi Amit,

One Root indicator is used where you have only 1 WBS as Level1 WBS within a project.

system will not allow to create another level1 WBS with in same project.

There can only be one top WBS element
