Hello all,

I need to click a button on a screen which will call VA41 by skipping the first screen.

On Screen of VA41, Contract type is a required field. During my recording, I defaulted the value. but i am not able to get to the screen which is expected. Is this possible.

Thanks,

Salil

You need to give us more details. Can you post the script, and screenshots of the screen you expect to get to and the one you actually get to?

Hello Steve,

Please see the below screen shot.

VA41 - Screen by skipping the first screen.

Thanks,

Where is this script running from? It doesn't look like SMEN? It is in a flavour of which transaction?

Try changing step 1 of the script to us "/nVA41" instead of just "VA41". Missing out the "/n" only works in SMEN, and not always there, so it is safest to use it always.

You are awesome Steve. "/n" did the trick for me. Thanks a lot.

One more thing Steve, Is it possible to bring the Tabs from Screen2 into Screen1. I know we can cache the tabs within the same screen but I need to bring the entire tab to the main screen so that the user would not be required to click a button and would get everything in one screen.

No, you can't actually move anything between screens with Personas. For individual fields, you can create custom fields on screen 1 and use scripts copy copy values backwards and forwards from/to screen 2 to make it look like the fields have moved. For a whole tab, you'd need to do this with all of the fields you need. It is certainly possible, but if you need lots of fields it gets very cumbersome very quickly. If you only need a few fields, it might be practical. If the tab includes tables, as in VA41, then you probably don't want to even consider it. There's no way to do this easily with a whole tab at once.

Thanks Steve for your response. The 2 main tabs that i was referring to bring to the main screen was the Partners Tab and Notes Tab. Based on your response, I guess we need to pass that and not think of bring it to the front. Thanks again.

No, I wouldn't, but there's another possibility. Can you copy the fields that you want from screen 1 to screen 2? If you can put those fields in the same locations on each screen, then when you navigate from screen 1 to screen 2, the screen 2 content will just "appear" and it will seem like you are on the same screen. This is essentially the effect you are looking for, right? Then simplify screen 2 as required.

Does that make sense?

Good suggestion but I dont think that will work in this case simply because, the Items Tab (table control ) is on Screen 1 and the Partners Tab (table control) and Notes Tab is on screen 2. Since we cannot move the tabs around, even if we try to fake it the way you suggested, we would still have Items Tab on Screen 1 and other 2 tabs on Screen 2.

Thus in this case, they will have to go to Screen 2 regardless and might as well enter the values for the other fields which i will be caching for easier data entry.

Thanks Steve, all your blogs are very helpful.

Yes, that sounds right. Some transactions are structures so that this works. I was just guessing at VA41 since I'm not familiar with it. I guess it isn't as helpful:-)

If only copying tables around was easy in Personas...

Is this feature active in 3.0 ? ie bringing subscreens to the main screen.

Personas 3 is no different from Personas 2 in this respect.
