Stock update with ref. to account assignment category

Dear MM/PS colleagues,

     I am having a query related to account assignment category with reference to stock update. Let me state this.

As per sap standard when i create po selecting acc.assignment cat. P , the stock doesn't get updated and for acc.assignment cat. Q stock gets     maintained but it doesn't hit fund center. I am also attaching the snapshots of my practices of po creation with P and Q. Please go through.

     My client's requirement is to update the stock as well as to hit the fund center after creation of po for valuated materials.

     I am unable to do this with any other acc.assignment category/settings. Can anyone please guide me how to accomplish this.

yeah absolutely Tomas and Rosh, i got your point. well, i'm using Q and everything's going alright.

now, what if i need to post po with different gl a/c.

let me elaborate!

with Q, say i want to post one po with a gl a/c and an another po with a different gl a/c. valuation area is same here i.e. plant. i could only do it by creating one more valuation class for a material type and assign it in material master so that the posting could go to a new gl a/c of that valuation class. as it seem, this would be a very lengthy process, changing the val.class for each and every time in material master while creating po.

so any alternate solution if you can provide me.

You want to post Q AccAssgn to differenent GL account that P AccAssgn? Again, see the customizing task of "Maintain Account Assignment Categories", field "Acct modification" -- this modifies the GBB operation in OBYC, so you can set up different modifiers for Q & P for one and the same ValClass.

Also, Sanjay, I'm afraid that this thread is diverging from original question; it's not a good practice to ask additional questions in original threads, as it is making quite difficult for people to search SCN for answers.

Please use Project stock valuation class. Kindly refer the below screenshot.

You need specify a valuation class here only if you want to assign a different valuation class to this type of stock than that assigned to other valuated stocks of the material. This makes it possible to define other allowed G/L accounts for these stocks.

dear tomas, i'm asking in a simple way that i want to create every another po with different gl a/c using Q. can i do this with one valuation class and post to different gl every other time.

with P i can do this because P doesn't relates to inventory/bsx.

and yeah it sounds like the thread is diverging but my query is somewhat like after solving one scene, it get stuck with other and it persists so i'm continue sharing with you.

You can fulfil your Client's requirement in the following way,

1) Use account assignment category Q, it will update the stock.

2) When you use account assignment category Q then the system will hit only WBS element along with respective G/L account and CO Area. If you want to include fund centre then try coding block which is used to enter additional account assignments.

Note: Account assignment category P won't update the stock since the action resulting into consumption posting.

I'm not much familliar with funds management, but did you even try to open the field "Funds" in SPRO "Materials Management -> Purchasing -> Maintain Account Assignment Categories"?

am going ahead with this and one more thing i do need to ask whether it is possible to maintain inventory using P as account assignment category. sap standard say 'no' to this, but if possible anyhow?

Why would you do that, Sanjay? If you want project stock, you should use Q AccAssgnt. Anyway, all customizing around "Account Assignment Categories" is in the task mentioned above, see the fields "Consumption posting" & "Special Stock"... you can effectivelly change P to behave in same way as Q, but again, what would be the point?
