Problems with "You must restart the server for changes take effect." on BO 4.1

Hello,

we have the following environment:

Windows 2008 R2 Server SP1, actuall patch level.

RAM: 64 GByte, enough diskspace left.

SAP BO 4.1 SP5.

The source System was a SAP BO 4.0 with SP4. It was updated
with the upgrade Patch to SAP BO 4.1 SP2. Then it was patched with Patch 4 to SP2 from BO 4.1
And finaly SP 5 was installed.

The deployment template for the Server ist he XL – deployment.

There are nearly 100 – 150 users active every working day.
And there are about 850 timely dispatched WebI reports (Jobs)  over a week. On monday and on friday and on
every  first of a month a bigger number of Jobs are recurring.

We have the following problem.

At any time it is possible that nearly any services are going to an undefined state.

On the property page and only there we get the message
„You must restart the server for changes take effect.“

It seams, that the paramaters are changed. The field fort he current parameters
is emty and the field for the expected parameter has the original start
parameters. But nobody has changed the parameters

And then the status for this service is more ore less undefined.

Sometimes the affected servise works fine and sometimes the affected services doesn’t work anymore.

If we restared the affected services it is possible that all services are restarting.

We had that Problem also with SAP BO 4.1 SP 2 patch 4

At the moment we are not able to find a reason for  that behaviour.

Has someone hints to solve that problem.

Best Regards

Ralph

Hi,

It is an unusual issue.

I think you should check the audit log for edit event.

Is this issue only in Production environment or it is in all the BO deployments in your landscape?

If you have any Sandbox environment where this issue is reproducible then try to create a new SIA re-creating the existing SIA. Check if issue persists with new SIA as well.

Hello
Yes, you are so right.

This issue happens in the productiv environment.
Extremly seldom in the test Environment and it doesn't happen in the development  Environment.

I have an sandbox, but within this sandbox every works fine.
Ok i'll try to use the sandbox to create the new SIA step by step..

I will see what happend then.

thank you.

Check the logs and Event Viewer for more information. It might give you some isgiht what is going during that time.

Hello,

Sorry.

What do you thing why I open'd this thread.
The Logfiles and errormessages are not realy helpfull.

I am not so familliar with the programing code from the SAP BO Server components.

For Example:

I made some tests yesterday evening over nearly 2 houres. During this time I’ve got 42
files with more then 100 Mbyte.

And then I found messages within a logfile from a webi_prozessing server like:

What information should this message send to me.

I hoped with this post to get some hints for what information I have to search within the
logfiles or some hints for possile reasons or so.

I am a bit helpless because it is a productiv Environment and this is also the first time that I am faced the first time with such a problem.
