How can we differentiate user transactions(Business owners) and consultant transaction

Hi,

When we are working with BYD technology how exactly we can differentiate the core users and consultants i.e when i was working with ECC system where i can have SPRO (SAP Project Reference Object) where we can configure the entire system according to the client requirement, Mean while we assign respective Transaction codes to end user to perform their regular transactions and maintain required master data let say - PA30, CJ20N,CJI3,FB03,ME21 etc, Where as in SAP BYD i can see Work centers but how wxactly we can differentiate Configuration part and Regular Master data and Transaction data maintenance.

Further if you all guys can provide me some usefull links it would be a great help so that i can go through them.

Regards

Venkatesh

Hi Venkatesh

do differentiate between Business Configuration (instead of IMS we have the Workcenter Business Configuration) and daily work.

If you open the Business Configuration, then you see scoping with questions regarding modules and countries that you like to use.

In addition you have the Activity list, which helps you to fine tune your system (e.g. changes to account determination or payment terms).

Instead of transactions you can assign workcenters/ workcenter views with read or write access to users. In addition you can decide if the user can call the transaction only for certain companies or for all companies.

Please check the help for more details.

Hi Venkatesh

if you come from ECC (which I assume seeing your gold status) I would recommend to read the following document: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_byd1505/en/KTP/Software-Components/01200615320100003379/SAP_BBD/BC_SA/Bu...

This is a good overview about how the configuration is handled in ByD. You get an empty workspace for your project. In the scoping you decide, which features you want to use. Then the system has some constrains and switches on e.g. G/L if you want to use AR.

Based on the scoping decisions an activity list get generated. This activity list has mandatory activities (e.g. Perform Organizational Structure Setup or Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination). Furthermore you can add more optional options.

The system will guide. (check help document for details)

You are able to set up a test system pretty fast (I can do it meantime within less then on day (only from technical, if all questions are clear.) If you need to discuss the business impact of the activity with your client, it will take longer like for any other product, which is not system related .)

Once your project is live you confirm it in the configuration. From now on the production system is the starting point. If you want to add new modules or features, you create a change project. For each change project you can request a test tenant, which is a copy of production). You do the changes in the change project, test it in the assigned tenant (with up to date data) and then merge the project back to production.

No more customizing transports. No outdated test systems. Coming from ECC I have to say that the BC part is pretty impressive.

Regarding the transactions and authorization:

In the scenario you will have certain users with BC authorization. (You have authorizations for Business Configuration for modules, e.g. Financials or SRM). If you assign those WCV to a user, they will be able to execute the tasks which belong to the area in BC. If you do not assign then, the user cannot execute the tasks.)

Certain activities are daily work for SME, but should not be executed by all users, e.g. open/ close fiscal periods. Here you can remove the view from all users.

If your client is a larger account, then you might use business roles, which you can create. And e.g. then assign the role of AP Accountant to user A and B.

Hope this gives you a little insight on ByD.

Best regards

Marlene
