Personnel area creation for existing entity which is moving.

Hi Experts,

Hope you are doing great!

I had gone through lot of articles on personnel area in SAP Human Capital Management. Our client is shifting the organization from one place to other.

For historic record they want to maintian the data text of the personnel area. Is there any possibility in SAP to rewrite the text for the new place.

To make you understand clearly here is the example:

Example:

Existing personnel area: BA12: ABC Pvt. Ltd., Gandhinagar, Delhi.

This location is existed from 01.01.2003 till 30.04.2015

The whole entity ABC Pvt. Ltd., Gandhinagar, Delhi is shifted to ABC Pvt. Ltd., MG Road, Delhi.

The client want both the records in SAP.

01.01.2003 till 30.04.2015 ABC Pvt. Ltd., Gandhinagar, Delhi.

01.05.2015 till 31.12.9999 ABC Pvt. Ltd., MG Road, Delhi.

Is there any possibility to delimit the old record and rename the personnel area?

(or)

Creating a personnel area is the only solution.

Please suggest if any option available. Looking forward to hear from you.

Hi Triven,

You can define validity areas for the  personnel areas as per new functionality available in ECC6, by activating the switch ADMIN DELIM,

You can delimit the personnel areas, but Personnel areas Text will be changed as soon as you have given the old name.. i mean personnel areas will not have two different texts depend upon the validity..it will have always one.

I think you will have to create a new personnel area . that works.

Is the delimition required for the personnel area?

If we won't delimit what are the probelms we face?

Hi Triven,

Delimition is not required, and better you do not delimit to avoid complexities.

Only problem which i see if you do not dilimit is user can use this personnel area for transfer or hiring, which will create master data error.

To avoid such incidents, you may put validation ZXPADU02 (user exit of infotype) for IT 0001 . i.e. if begda is more than (date of not use), throw error " Personnel Area (Xyz) should not used after (date of not use).".

Hi Triven,

I agree with Ajay, even in my project though we have that functionality. we dont delimit the things. we are just creating a new personnel area and making the old personnel area text as Dont use.

Because we feel problems might occur due to delimitation of Personnel areas, with reports and other things.

Hence please create a new one and put the old personnel area as dont use or use user exit and write a message on your own.

Hi

Although SAP has added dates to control history for most of cases, but this is one of place, SAP has not provided date control.

You have no choice other than creation of new personnel Area. Make sure you create new personnel area by coping the existing one, as the grouping has to be taken care for payroll and time related functionality.
