Connect from SAP gateway to RFC server failed

Hi,

I am getting the following error when trying to connect to SAP system.

  • I have SAPGUI on my system & i am able to login using same credentials (i.e, ip address, client, login name, password, system number etc.,)

  • I am able to telnet the ipaddress on port 3600 (which i believe must be open)(are there any other ports that need to be open??)

  • password is not case sensitive, I can use whatever case in SAPGUI & it connects

  • When i use SAPLOGON.INI settings when adding a new SAP application server from Server explorer, i get the following error

-

Open file 'C:\WINDOWS\sapmsg.ini' failed

-

  • When i use custom logon settings & supply credentials or when i try to run the sample programs bundled with SAP.NET Connector, i get the following error

-

    Hi,

Try to do a PING for the target SAP system IP address from your system.

Check if there are any Firewall restrictions present in the system in which your .Net connetor interface is executed to communicate with the SAP system.

      Hi

I cannot ping the target SAP system but I can telnet to that IP address on different ports like 3300,3200,3600 etc.,

I will still check with our administrator to find out if there are any firewall restrictions.

      thanks

    Hi,

The .Net onnection establishment will get timed out if the PING commane to the Target SAP system fails. So do check the connectivity to the target SAP system.

    Hope this helps you.

    • It should be possible to telnet from rrrrrrw to 11.111.111.11 on port 3300. Ping is not required (Ping is sometime prevented by NAT routers, but Telnet, which is basicly pure TCP needs to work).

SAPGUI uses another port (3200 and 3600 for Load balancing).

There is also the alternative to use SAPRouters which doesn't require direct TCP connection. In both, NCo and SAPGUI you can specify a so-called SAPRouter string that describes a path of SAPRouter IPs and ports.

Please check you SAPLOGON destination if it contains a SAPRouter string.
