check as to how updation of commodity code in GTS should update commodity code in material master

I am very new to SAP GTS .

I have a basic doubt :-

How updation of commodity code in GTS, updates the commodity code in material master.

Is their a interface or should we do a config to link them or a workflow is triggered.
