is there any restriction in creating formulas for key figures only till 19

Dear Experts,

After creating 20th formula in Bex query designer, the query designer is not saving.

Can you tel me is there any restriction in creating formulas for key figures only till 19 formulas. Because the problem is not coming after creating 19th formula and the problem is coming only after creating 20th formula.

We can only have a total of 50 objects in ROWS and COLUMNS..

I guess, total of 50 objects in ROWS and COLUMNS is for 3.5 version, if I am wrong please let me know .

But, I am using BI 7.0 Version.

I have removed 2 chars from free chars, but still it is showing the below given error message.

Error : Terminate unexpected error: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE. Time limit exceeded.

           Terminate:Query designer must be restarted:Further work not possible.

Hi Suresh,

Please try as follows.

1. Create a new query on the same infoprovider

2. in either row or columns create a global structure with all the formulae you need.
3. Save structure

4. Go to original query and pull the structure in your query.

5. Check and execute.

Apart from this please check you patch no and see if needs to be upgraded to nect patch level.

Do you really have multiple object in your ROWS and COLUMNS? How many?

The 50 objects limitations still apply to 7.x version:

You can use any number of characteristics in the query. Note, however, that the number of characteristics in the drilldown is restricted. An unlimited number of characteristics is permitted in the Free Characteristics area. Note, however, that the rows and columns can contain a maximum of 50 - <number of structures> characteristics only.

If the query does not contain a structure, a total of 50 characteristics are permitted in the rows and columns. If you use one structure, 49 characteristics are permitted, and with two structures, 48 characteristics are permitted in the rows and columns.

After logging on to BW, just go to SYSTEM then click STATUS..

Just click the circled button to see your SP..

Hi Suresh,

Please share the exact error description for more clarity.

There is no such restriction on more than 19 formula.

However, there is restriction on total no of query elements. Try to remove few chars from free chars and try.

Else, save the query with 19 formulae and try Generare report from RSRT.
