Hi Prem,

Beside the fact that this is a hardly justifiable business requirement, here is a technical way you can use to setup this case :

1. Create two characteristics called UPPER_LIMIT and LOWER_LIMIT which should both be quantitative chars.

2. Your main characteristic should be calculated based on the values of previous upper and lower values maintained at the time of result recording.

This way, you don't maintain the limits at the characteristic level but as values of two special characteristics. Then the main characteristic will be valuated using a formula that you have to create which will be using the values maintained in these two characteristics.

Hope this will be helpful.

Regards,

Ayoub.

I'll modify the Arijit's suggestion a bit. Better use Inspection description to enter the upper and lower limits and final result in Result.

User will be happy as he can enter the ranges and result at the same time.

Or, I sense this requirement has got something to do with valuation process where actual result may not be known when inspection lot was created or something, but only after a period of time and then results need to be entered with respective results. Pretty possible with different analysis and inspection standards.

Better explain the process and actual requirement with a possible scenario.

Hi Prem,

Very valid point suggested by Martin and seriously this is not what is intended here!!

Well, if the only objective here is to say that the input result is OK or NOT OK, then ask user to add the results in "INSPECTION DESCRIPTION" and not under "RESULTS" block, so that user can keep valuating the input ad hock and set MIC status "5"

Sorry, as I do not see any better answer here.

Thanks,

Arijit

Could you please explain what sense your customer sees in setting the process like this?
