Restore Original Adaptive Processing Server BO 4.1 SP2

Former Member

Hi guys

I recently splitted out an APS only to discover that my LCM APS's Promotion  Management Service do not want to start.

I went back to the original APS to have a look & it also stated the same thing. So cloning the original APS just ported the issue to the new LCM APS.

I tried all the resolutions in all the relevant KBA's, with no luck.. I also ran an repair on the whole installation with the same reults

My question is, is it possible to recreate the original APS? Because when you 'create a new server' in the CMC, it only gives you the 'split out' options..

Best regards

LJ

Hi Lukas,

Cloning a server doesn't solve problems because it copies the configuration of the faulty server to the new one.

The only way to have an "original" APS is to create a new SIA following this KBA:

How to create new SIA:

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1262211

Also, it is always recommended to Split the APS:

How to size the Adaptive Processing Server (APS):

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1694041

Hope this wil work,
Moslem

Hi Moslem

Thanks for your reply.

I have been trying this for the past couple of hours.. I can recreate the new SIA with it's default servers with no problem, but cannot delete the original corrupt SIA..

Any ideas?

Hi Lukas,

Make sure to stop the SIA from CCM, then select it, and use the Delete button.

If this is not working, follow steps mentioned in this KBA:

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1645926

Kind regards,

Hi Moslem

Thanks for your reply.

I created a new SIA node with the default servers.

But the new APS is still "running with errors". When I looked at the properties, I saw that the Promotion Management Service did not start., which was my original issue..

So, it;s back to square one.. Is there a configuration file I can copy from a working environment?

Hi Lukas,

Try to split the APS as per KBA http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1694041

Hi Moslem

Thanks for the reply.

I had to do a fresh install of 4.1 SP2 on the DEV system & migrated all content from PROD to DEV via Promotion Management.

It took a while, but all is up & running again.

Thanks for your input though!

Best regards

Lukas

Could you please elaborate what is your exact issue is and what is happening when you clone or recreate teh APS. Also make sure you have added related services when you are splitting APS.

Hi Manikandan

When I clone the original APS, it recreates the same issue on the new LCM APS. I create the new APS with the Promotion Management Service, PM Clear Case Service and Visual Difference Service.

It is just the Promotion Management Service that does not want to start.
