My client had customers created under account group 0001 sold to
Then they created a copy of account group called Y001 sold to (for a new sales org and co code)
Now they want to extend all customers created under 0001 Sold to --> to Y001 sold to (and new sales area . co code)
But when the customers are extended, under Y001 , upon saving the system changes account group Y001 to 0001 again
Is there a way the account group can be changed from 0001 to Y001, while extending customer master ?
Any help would be appreciated

Hi SM
Firstly, a customer can only belong to one account group. And you can't change it by extending the customer.
But you can switch the customer from one account group to another, with XD07. Try this, ensuring the number ranges and field selection settings of the two groups are compatible with each other.
In particular, ensure that any fields with values in the old acct group aren't now hidden in the new, as the old value can still be read and used in transaction processing.
