Unable to save a .xlf file to BI enterprise

Hello -

We are unable to save a .xlf dashboard to BI 4.1 platform. It gives us an error that says "cannot generate HTML dashboard:unable to load document"

we are working with SAP support on this issue, they said that there are few limitations for flash and it is unable to generate the dashboard due to more number of columns, we have 150 columns in this dashboard. Do anybody know if there are any exact limitations on number of rows in dashboards? Is there any workaround to overcome this issue. Thanks!

Thanks for your resposnes.

Size of xlf file is 1.49MB, we were able to save the dahbaords with bigger size than this but our dashbaord with this issue has more columns compared to others. We were able to save the dashabord if we reduced the number of cloumns/rows.

Also we are able to save the dashabord locally.

Sometimes we are seeing the "Runtime C++ error" and some time we see error message "cannot generate HTML dashboard:unable to load document". Just wondering if there is any document that says the exact limitations of number of columns and rows for dashabord or if there is any workaround to overcome this issue. Thanks!

What type of connections are you using in the dashboard? Eg: QAAWS / BIWS / Live Office?

You have mentioned that you have 150 columns. So, considering the number of rows, the total cells in that range would be 150*number of rows. Having such large mapping could cause the SWF generation to fail.

Rakesh,

Just for sake of testing, reduce the column to 100 and export it. if that works, you can split the 150 columns into two sources and map to the components (there are some workaround to achieve it)

Thanks

Hi,

Can you share the screen shot of error? and let us know the size of xlf file. In my understanding it may be excel compatibility issue (I always used to get on 4.0)

did you try exporting a very small file?

Thanks

Saving the dashboard in the repository is not the big ask, its always comfortable to do that. But on your case the what is the size of your file. Have you tried to save the file locally, this has been discussed several times on the community. Dashboard is always used to display the aggregated data/higher level of information not for the detailed reporting.

As for us to my knowledge dashboard always should be fetched under 500 rows that to on the worst case. In some situations i agree we cannot satisfy the best practice, but at the same time we can split the logic or the navigation's. My best advice to use the data in the higher level of manipulations or to split the dashboard based on the requirement.
