ERP > C4C: "Distribution chain not valid: enter distribution channel"

I am trying to replicate the ERP customer master to Cloud for Customer via HCI. Messages sent from ERP sucessfully make it through HCI and arrive in the Cloud for Customer "Web Service Message Monitoring", where they yield an error.

The error is: "Distribution chain not valid: enter distribution channel", with the long text "Sales area not valid; valid distribution channel for sales org. required".

I have created a distribution channel with the id "Z1" in the "Distribution Channel" activity and mapped it to the external code "10" in the "Code List Mapping" view. The sales organization referenced in the payload also exists and is appropriately mapped in the view "ID Mapping for Integration".

From the transaction PPOMA_CRM on a traditional CRM intallation, I know it is possible to assign a distribution channel to an organization, but I am unable to find that option in Cloud for Customer. This leaves me wondering what "distribution chain" really means in this context.

Hello Niklas,

The error message does not necessarily mean that there is something wrong in the integration. Basically the integration configuration looks fine based on the screenshots provided. Therefore it is worth looking at the general system configuration.

The assignment of distribution channels to sales organizations can be done in C4C via Administrator work center > Work Distribution (in the overview) > Organizational Work Distribution. However usually you do not have to define anything here to make the integration working.

A typical root cause for this issue is that either the system scoping is not correct or the organizational structure is not defined correctly. Could you please check if at least opportunities, sales quotes or sales orders are in scope? At least one object is required to ensure the sales area functionality is working.

Best regards,

Konstantin

Hello Konstantin,

thank you for your help. This was indeed the right answer. We had to add Sales to the scope of our project for it to work.

Associate the Distribution channel with the sales org in the c4c org management WoC

Hello Niklas,

My assumption is that you have maintained & mapped all the Sales data like Sales Org unit, Distribution channel,Division codes, Sales Office & Group data in Code List & Id Mapping (whichever applicable) correctly.

Even after this, if you get the same error than try the following:

> Go to Tcode BD64 in SAP ECC system.

> Click on EDIT (Change) mode.

> Look for the C4C integration model there & expand that node.

> Find the message type: DEBMAS_CFS (Customer Master).

> Get inside the Filter setting for this. (Click on Add/Create filter).

> Look for the field Distribution Channel.

> Add a dummy value into the filte for this field (For example, if in ECC its equal to 10, than add any other digit like 20 or 50).

> Save your changes.

> Send the Customer again & then let me know your results.

(Attached screen shot for reference purpose).

Hello Niklas,

In C4C you can add Distribution Channel through Fine Tune Activity Distribution Channel. Add this activity in your project scope (if not in project) and add your distribution channel here and then perform Code List Mapping for same.

Hope this helps.

Hello Chandan,

thank you for your help. Unfortunately, I already tried your suggestion, as I wrote in the opening post:

I have created a distribution channel with the id "Z1" in the "Distribution Channel" activity and mapped it to the external code "10" in the "Code List Mapping" view.

With this configuration, I still get the aforementioned error.

Please attached a screenshot of your ID mapping as well as code list mapping.  You may need to enter an incident and attach all of the same information.
