Valuation class in materiel master data

Hi experts,

Is there any customizing method in SAP in order to substitute automatically valuation class while choosing a materiel group in MM01 ( as we have only 1 to 1 relation between materiel group and valuation class, we prefer the system to determine automatically valuation class while entring materiel group in the view "BASIC DATA 1".

So if i want to create substitutions rules ( like in FI using transaction GGB1 ). Is there any MM transaction where i can define substitutions like ( when i have materiel group X, then put valuation class X1....). I tried to look for the transaction of substituion and i couldn't find. Any help ?

there is not such thing in MM

FI substitution from GGB1 is used for FI posting only. Not for material  master.

System will never look into your substitution during material master creation. You need to use the badi BADI_MATERIAL_REF to default the valuation class as per your material group.

Agreed with Dev, You may check the feasibility of development only via BADI "BADI_MATERIAL_REF".

First of all, Valuation class is not controlled by MAterial Group (In Basic tap 1).

So, it will not be at all possible.

It is linked with the Material type (T.code OMSK), so Pl check it.

But it can be possible through new development.

I suggest you to, Pl rethink what exactly is your requirement and post again.

you may try BADI_MATERIAL_REF to default values in material master creation.

I do think there is any such method. Valuation is controlled by material type not material group. If you think from all materials are not valuated so putting logic in basic view does not make sense.

First decide list of material type based on their usage-- then check with finance how many G/L accounts they have .. according design material types ..

Not satified with my answer than you can always use development your requirement to achieve given time and money.
