Crystal Reports 2013 - Oracle Server connection not present in the list of connections

Hi All,

We have recently installed the Crystal Reports 2013 software and when I open the report and see the list of connections, I don't see "Oracle Server" in the list of connections. The machine on which this is installed is Windows 2008 R2 64-bit

Please note, I installed the software using the Typical installation mode.

Currently, there is no Oracle Client installed on the machine. Is that the reason for the Oracle Server connection type not being shown in the list? If so, should I be installing Oracle 32-bit client on the machine (even though the machine itself is 64-bit).

Could you please let me know, how to resolve this issue.

Thanks

Hi Indu,

Yes, you'd need to install the 32-bit Oracle Client (Full) to be able to see the 'Oracle Server' driver on the machine.

Hi Abhilash,

Thanks very much for the quick response!

I will ask our server admins to install the client today and will confirm, if all is fine after the client installation,

Thanks again for the help.

Hi Abhilash,

After installing the Oracle client, we are now able to see Oracle Server connection and I'm able to run the report from the desktop tool.

Please note, we have SAP Crystal Server 2013 installed as the BI platform.

We are migrating some of our reports present in Crystal Reports 2008 to Crystal Reports 2013. When I run the Crystal Reports 2008 report in Crystal Reports 2013 tool, it is working fine without any issues.

But, when I saved the report into the repository and try to run the report from SAP Crystal Server Java BI Launch Pad, I'm getting an error saying "The viewer could not process an event. Error in File DealDetail:
Failed to load database information. []
---- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]"

Also, when I saved the file into the repository, I see the file type as Crystal Reports 2011 in CMC.

Could you kindly let me know, what needs to be done in order to resolve this issue.

Also, note the machine on which the SAP Crystal Reports 2013 tool is installed is the same DEV machine on which the SAP Crystal Server 2013 is installed. We only installed Oracle 32-bit client on this machine and that resolved connecting to the database through Crystal Reports 2013 designer, but unfortunately it is not working from BI Launch pad as mentioned above.

Thank you.

Hi All,

After we installed 64-bit client on the server machine, we are able to run the report from BI Launch Pad.

Thank you.

Hi Indu,

Yes, It is reason for not having Oracle server connection in Crystal Report .

CR is a 32 bit app so it requires the 32 bit client installed.
