Rename SAP service account

I need to change the name of the portal Service account in our domain because of naming convention issues.

Beside renaming this in the local and global domain, do i need to do any changes on the J2EE Engine or in the WebAS?

I would not suggest renaming SAP Service Account because not of services in SAP EP would have the original name and it is not advisable to do so.

I'm assuming you're on windows?

I would try this - it should work:

Copy the sapserviceSID user that the services run under to your new user.

Set the environment variables to be the same too (these are the most important parts of the user).

Chnage the service to run under the new user.

Stop service, start service, cross fingers.

It should work though as long as the rights and environment variables are set correctly.

I rename the Accounts in AD and then change the service account name, change the name of the account on the Coonfigtool... and restarted the engine!

No problem at all!
