Hi,
We are building a multi customer enterprise software under a single platform. There are possibilities of querying the table for 2 or 3 customer data at a time or probably one customer data for most of the cases. I was trying to implement partitioning of the table with respect to the customer_id or customer_fk in all the tables which might not necessarily be a Primary key.
Could anyone please let me know if there is anything called as list partitioning as provided by Oracle in HANA?
Thanks,
Athrey
Nope, up to SPS 9 SAP HANA does not support LIST partitioning.
You can however, create e.g. a single HASH partition based on the primary key and then implement a second level RANGE partitioning to yield a similar effect.
Besides that, partitioning might not be a clever choice to separate customer data from each other as the base privileges are based on object access. That means customer A could easily be able to insert data for customer B.
Rather consider database containers or multiple schemas.

Lars,
Thanks for your reply.
HASH partition on all the tables couldnt be possible as we cannot use customer_fk as one of the primary key.
Also we have an idea to aggregates and analysis cutting across customers as well there by refraining us from using different schemas or containers.
Thanks,
Athrey
RANGE-RANGE partitioning is also possible with SPS 9... just read the documentation
Concerning your data partitioning strategy: I am actually not sure what exactly you want to achieve here.
When it's about access privilege then mixing the data for analysis is not something you would do.
You may want to reconsider why you want to partition your data here.

Lars,
Something like this I'm looking into:-
CREATE TABLE sales_list
PARTITION BY LIST(sales_state)
PARTITION sales_west VALUES('California', 'Hawaii'),
PARTITION sales_east VALUES ('New York', 'Virginia', 'Florida'),
PARTITION sales_central VALUES('Texas', 'Illinois')
