Hi Lakshmipathi,

Business requriement is to add new item categories for a particualr sales doc type ZOR. The order type is already having 12 Manual item categories.

So, with standard SAP we can add only 12 manual item categories. How can we add new item categories.

please suggest how to add new manual item categories for a sales doc type.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

Any Idea on this..we are running in a high alert for this. please suggest few ideas.

I am not able to edit in above message. total line items are 12 one default and 11 manual item categories.

Need to add newly created item category for ATP functunality.

Thanks & Regards,

That means your sales order always will have more than 12 item categories

Instead of increasing  additional Manual item categories in VOV4-can we have different Sales Doc type & Different sales order for remaining???

Can you please tell us your business requirement more precisely...

Hi,

I will try by assigning in second line. Also a proposed solution is a enhancement.

Thanks,

Bala,

"New item category for ATP" Please explain in more detail because item category does not have ATP functionality. Having so many item categories for OR is not a good design, also just to "fit SAP to creation of new item category" creating a new order type is a poor solution!

Hi Shiva,

It is not working..

Business requirement is straight their item categories assigned to a sales doucment type is exhausted. To add new item category we have remove existing item categories.

Then we have to create new sales doc for those remaining item categories..

which will require again many customizations.

So, we are looking for a solution where we can add new item categories for existing sales doc. type.

Also we checked table T184 is a Pool table related to VOV4. Maintenance authorization is not given. However we have do contact SAP. Meanwhile can any one help us if they are having any notes or OSS message regarding this requirement.

Thanks & Regards,

Bala B.

Dear Bala,

In standard only eleven manual item categories can be in transaction VOV4 (from PSTY1 to PSTY11) This is valid upto SAP enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0. (As per the note 1815086 - Maximum number of item categories in VOV4)

However check the below note as well,

25706 - You cannot make new entries in T184 / TVEPZ / T184L

Hope this may help you little bit.

Sometime back you explained how your client increased the no. of manual item categories (more than that offered by standard SAP) in T184. Could you help the OP?

Hi,

Now there is no SAP solution for adding new manual item category after 11.

So, need to add the new item category in another sales document type or create new one for this requirement.

Finally Business decided to take another document type for new item category.

Thanks,

Bala B.

Bala,

There could be some practical issues for the users - when user is creating a sales order, he/she finds that an item category is not available (setup) for this order type, then all the order entry again needs to be done in another order type. Second, if user wants to create one order with different item categories, it might not be possible, because one item category is setup in one order type and the other in another order type.
