How to pass values to HANA View Parameter and Variable from Dashboard.

Hi,

Dashboard 4.1 SP5

IDT 4.1 SP5.

Have created a HANA View with few Variables and Parameters. And based on this view I have created a UNX.

I can successfully view the prompts in IDT and Webi generated by HANA View.

While creating a dashboard on top of this UNX in query browser I get the prompts similar to Webi.

But When mapping the prompts in dashboard to a excel cell the excel mapping icon is grayed out.

1. How to use the HANA Prompts in Dashboard.

2. Why the excel cell mapping icon is grayed out.

3. How I can pass values from dashboard to the Query with these prompts.

Or am I missing anything here.

Thanks

Deepak.

Hi,

Its resolved, we haven't upgraded the dashboard to SP5. The HANA view prompts issue is resolved in SP5.

Thanks.

Hi Deepak -

I'm having this issue as well but I'm already on 4.1 SP5.  Did you have to do anything else?

Thanks

Hi Chris,

Its a known issue, and resolved in SP5. My Server was on SP5 but, my dashboard was on SP4.

I upgraded to SP5 and the issue got resolved. Apart from this we didn't did anything.

Check your BO Server Service Pack.

Thanks

The prompts would be grayed out if we already have any other prompt defined in the query browser in the dashboard,I mean if we have already created a filter in the query panel in the Dashboards query browser.

We cannot have the filtering done at the two levels, either we should apply the prompt at the backend level or at the Dashboards level but bot at both the levels.

For testing you can create a quey in Dashboards and simply drag two result objects.Do not drag anything in the filter panel. Now check if the HANA variable is grayed out or not.It should'nt be.

Also check SAP note 2103395 - BW variable greyed out in the query browser in Dashboard(this is  also applicable to HANA)

Thanks for the additional info Amit.  I was playing around with the tools and serching through notes when I came across 2103395 last night. I have switched the design of the Dashboard to use only parameters/variables in HANA rather than in the Universe.
