EP Installation & JAVA Cryptographic toolkit

Former Member

Hi!!

I'm trying to install Enterprise Portal 6.0. I've installed the MS SQL Server. In the sapinst I selected the portal, content management & collaboration option. I'm asked for the directory of the JAVA Cryptographic Library. I don't have it installed with my J2EE Engine and I'm unable to download it from the Service Marketplace. (I just get an export condition popup and no link to download the toolkit). I have access to a portal via a remote host and I copied the cryptographic files from this portal installation. But I don't think the version of my J2EE engine matches the Cryptographic Library. So I'd like to know

- What I should be doing to get the JAVA Cryptographic files?

- Do I have to deploy the JAVA Cryptographic toolkit with SDM?

- Is it possible to install EP without the JAVA Cryptographic toolkit? I tried but was'nt able to skip the step.

- I currently have a J2EE Engine Version 700,patch 38. Can I use the same one to deploy my portal applications? - Or do I have to get a new J2EE Engine Installed?

- If yes, is it possible to have two J2EE Engines on my laptop?

Would be great if anyone can help me out.

Thanks,

Siva.

Hi Siva

>><i>What I should be doing to get the JAVA Cryptographic files?</i>

Go to <a href="http://service.sap.com/swdc">service marketplace</a> -> SAP Software Distribution Center -> Download -> SAP Cryptographic Software.

Select the <b>SAP JAVA CryptoToolkit (J2EE Engine as of Release 6.30)</b>.

Add this file to your download basket.

You can download this file only with the help of the SAP Download manager which is again avilable on the service marketplace.

Additionally you will have to download the cryptographic policy files from <a href="http://java.sun.com/products/jce/javase.html">Sun Microsystems</a>

Check <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2f/f4bc3d16f39e33e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm">this</a>

>><i>Do I have to deploy the JAVA Cryptographic toolkit with SDM?</i>

You can just upload that toolkit into the server while installing the portal or via SDM.

Check out this<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/8d/cb71b8046e6e469bf3dd283104e65b/frameset.htm">link</a> for details

>><i>Is it possible to install EP without the JAVA Cryptographic toolkit?</i>

Yes it is possible but not adviced due to security concerns.

>><i>is it possible to have two J2EE Engines on my laptop?</i>

Again yes. Provided you meet the appropriate hardware requirements and use a different SID.

Hope that helped.

Hi!!

Thanks for the quick reply......my problem is that I can't download the files from SAP Service marketplace. I navigated to the SAP Cryptographic Software link and on clicking it, I just get a popup with a note regarding the Export Control Regulation and no other options/download buttons. Why is that so??

Hi Siva

Ok. I managed to find out why it is so.

Here's the reason.

If you cannot access the download area for the cryptographic software, SAP may not have a corresponding export license for your user or company or the import regulations for your country have not yet been checked.

Contact the contracts department of your nearest SAP subsidiary.

If you are sure that all of the above prerequisites have been met, and you are still getting an error message that does not allow a download, ensure that the cache of your browser is empty (delete all temporary Internet files). An additional problem may be an old version of the download manager.

Check SAP Note 397175.

Hope that helped.
