Hi,

I just installed crystal reports XI from businessObjects. How do I connect to SAP BW. What are the connection setting that I have to do to?

I havent installed the Crystal reports server and only the crystal report designer on a local system (stand alone installation)

Do I have to download the Business Objects XI Integration Kit for SAP from Service Marketplace?

Hi,

you need the following components on your client installed :

- SAP GUI

- Crystal Reports Designer

- Client components from the BusinessObjects SAP Integration Kit

After that you should have a SAP Toolbar in the Crystal Reports Designer that allows you to choose a SAP Query as a datasource.

Hope this help

Ingo thanks very much for replying..

We called up BusinessObjects Service to ask where we can download the SAP Integration Kit for Crystal XI but they had didnt have a solid answer for us.

We have the SAP GUI and also installed the Crystal Reports Designer XI from the CD. Also the installation of Crystal XI prompted me to download SP1 from internet and we did that.

As a result of the Service Pack installation another SAP component got installed called the "SAPInteractiveXL1" which is excel based. There is a connection SAP icon toolbar in SAPInteractiveCl1 but when the SAP GUI pops up and I input my logon information it just says says "Connecting..." and the excel just hangs....

So right now I have no clue where to get

From the overall Netweaver Package:

For Crystal Reports:

Does anyone have an SAP DVD Material Media number? We have 100's of CDs / DVD's from SAP.

Thanks,

When you open up Crystal reports make sure you have the SAP toolbar (this comes with the SAP Addon for Crystal Reports), you will be able to create a new query by selecting the create new report icon from the toolbar. This will laich the SAP logon pad and select the system you want to logon to and select the BW query the Crystal report should base of.

Thanks.

Thanks Deepu

I have installed mysap component for crystal after installing the Crystal XI. When I go in the excel with macros turned on and link on the "link" icon from the toolbar and login using mu username and password it just hangs without any respone.

So I was wondering if I have to do any RFC connection setting before I can use this functionality which seems very similar to Bex Analyzer login.

Is the installation of the crystal server necessary for stand alone installation?

Thanks again

you dont need any RFC connection for this. (you only need RFC connection if you want to publish crystal report from BW server to erystal enterprise)

if the Business Object Integration Kit for SAP is installed properly, you should get the pop up to choose the query when you hit the create new report rom query in crystal report designer.

Thanks Raja...

I was just going thru your other posts about the same topics and was just on my way to service market place to get more info on the this so called "Business Object Integration Kit for SAP"...

I still dont understand why after installing the Crystal Enterprise on my laptop it downloaded a service update update from the net and it installed some kind of excel interface in my program files (C:\program files\common files to be exact)...that excel interface also has a link to database icon. Clicking that DOES open up the GUI dont after entering logon info nothing happens....it just says Attempting to Logon on...

So I am wondering if that Service Pack download is same as the "Business Object Kit..."

As you can see I am very new to this....Anyway thanks for your help..
