Patform Search Application not searching report title

I have gone through all the recommended processes to rebuild the Search Index & am still having issues where a search for '10' will only return results against the Report 'Comments' field from the 'Summary Info' section, it WILL NOT however return any results from the 'Report Title'.

I am trying t find a report titled 'GPCR0010Act – Cost of Sales (Actual) Report by Delivery Note’  and get the following results only ('Issue 10' comes from the Comments field).

It will only find my report if I am much more specific with the search criteria (i.e. I have to use 'GPCR0010*' as a leading wildcard returns an error)...

Even more frustrating is that if I search for '20' it DOES return results from the report title...

Any assitance would be much appreciated.

Hi Andrew,

This is the expected behavior. In BI 4.0, search functionality is totally based upon a third party Indexing tool engine "Apache Lucene (2.4.1)". So, whenever we search for any keyword in BI Launchpad, there are different types of queries which are being run by Lucene engine.

Platform search does the indexing based on the below three Levels of indexing (CMC -> Platform Search -> Properties):

• Platform Metadata: An index is created only for the platform metadata information such as titles, keywords, and descriptions of the documents.

• Platform and Document Metadata: This index includes the platform metadata as well as the document metadata. The document metadata includes the creation date, modification date, and name of the author.

• Full Content: This index includes the platform metadata, document metadata, and other content such as:
• The actual content in the document
• The content of prompts and LOVs
• Charts, graphs, and labels

*** In order to effectively return search results while using the Search function in the SAP Business Intelligence Launchpad, you must use wild cards(?) and asterisks(*) in your partial search terms. Also, if you want to search the documents with special characters then put the keywords in "" (double quotes).

Hi,

Are you sure the document was even correctly indexed at all?

Can you find it anyhow?

Best Regards

Andrew if you can see when you are searching for '10' you are not using any wildcard so the results are displaying string '10' only as 'ISSUE 10' since you see there is a space before and after 10.

The report title do not have any such 10.

While you are searching for '20' the report title contains 'Top 20 ...' where there is a space before and after 20.

If you want to search for report with '10' in subject, report name, or in the comments, you should try using *10*, does this solve your problem ?

It seems your Platform search is working fine here

Please let me know how it goes and your opinion.

Hi Bhanu,

For some strange reason the search engine doesn't permit leading wild cards so I can't search *10*
