Regarding HALM

Hi,

I have worked on ABAP transports and here we can track each and every object and TR and release it to different systems.

But in HANA for packages and views I am not getting how to transport the same to different systems.

I have just gone through HALM  and I can see in document we can create a product-->create package---> assign delivery unit to the same

I have below doubts

a.) How we can track our development if someone make any changes in our object for a particular object?

b.) How to release our development to other clients? like we have release button ( Truck button ) in SE01 in ABAP.

c.) How to import objects ( delivery units ) to other client?

d.) What is change recording and how to use the same?\

e.) And in project developer only create delivery unit or basis guy?

Please let me know the same.

Hi Sumeet,

In HANA, we are transporting packages to the target system via delivery units. Delivery uits are corresponding to TRs in ABAP systems.

When you take a snapshot of the delivery unit, the changes will be automatically captured and you can transport it ( in the perspective of HANA transport containers as you are concerned abut abap systems more )

b ) How to release our development to other clients? like we have release button ( Truck button ) in SE01 in ABAP.

All development objects are client independent - Client is a concept in application layer and not in DB layer. Always workbenches are transported to one client only . Same wise, you can transport to the target system

c)How to import objects ( delivery units ) to other client? - as i explained above, clients doesnt matter

d) What is change recording and how to use the same? - more info in documents

e ) Developers can create delivery units - conceptually , developers create TRs in ABAP systems and BASIS transports it . Same way, let the basis team transport the Delivery unit .

I think I have missed something, after creating product ---> create package----> assign it to delivery unit--->and the transport using CTS.

Here in CTS i think we need to give our system details including SID. So I have question , once giving all the details our work is done? We dont need to do anything?

Automatically our packages included in DU will be transported to another client?

I didnt get your point 'take snapshot and changes will be automatically captured'... Can you pls explain again?
