CRM 4.0 Extension BP / Sales Transactions: EEW vs. "Manual"

Hello all,

we have to extend BUPA, BUPR and Sales Transactions by customer fields in CRM 4.0 SP09. In former releases we have done this kind of extension "manually" using the BDT for business partners and BADIs for sales transactions etc.

In SAP CRM 4.0 there is the EEW which allows at least the extension of objects BUPA and Sales Transaction (what is about BUPR? After testing the tool we came to the conclusion that it has the following big disadvantage: Every further change after the generation of the objects in BDT Customzing, DDIC and ABAP is deleted by the next generation of the EEW and has to be added again. The bigger the "manual" programming on basis of the generated objects is the more inconventient and not appropriate is the usage of the EEW.

From our point of view this tool is only suitable for simple extensions. Since you have to program further logic it is better to choose the "manual" way.

What is your experience in this matter? Do you have any experience of "saving" the manual extensions to keep adaption work small after a new generation in the EEW.

Thank for your reply.
