Code resource and code equipement

Dear experts ,

I want to know when we create work center with resource type " machine " we have to mention the resource code , so are we going the code of equipment or different code .

Hi Marouane,

Though your statement "so are we going the code of equipment or different code" is not very much clear but still would try to explain you what we do while defining resource.

When you go in CR01, you are basically defining a resource on which operation would be done (considering 0001 category). In this case it could be a drilling machine, lathe machine, CNC machine etc.

Now definition of that key at initial screen depends how you have defined in your company.

Example some companies define DRILL1, DRILL2 etc (as an example) as an individual resources depending upon features of the drill itself, etc. Some companies they club the same as DRILL and in capacity mention the number of capacities (example 2).

So you need to decide accordingly, what should be in your case.

in fact the resource that i want to create is an equipment , so the resource code will be the same as the equipment code or an other one different ?

Hi Marouane,

As per your requirement you should use PRT this being an equipment. Not sure whether you are using this functionality in your system. Logically this is an equipment which would have a life and then thereafter you need to procure etc. For the same go through the attached link.

On the other hand if you are not using then you can use work center and can put resource code as equipment code so that you can search it easily (though this approach is not correct).
