Printing Bar Code with SAP Smart forms.... Printer Compatibility

Dear Gurus,

I have made a Smart form which suppose to print Bar Codes. I can see the Bar code in Print preview but it is not being printed. The printer that i have is TSC TTP-244 Bar code printer. I read some threads and i am confused what is the actual problem. Some says only few specific Bar Codes printer are compatible with Smart forms. Can anyone tell what is the proper way and method of printing Bar Cades from Smart forms? Do i need Specific Bar code printer or any bar code printer can print bar codes from Smartforms?

Dear Imran,

different barcode technologies can be used for SmartForms - this means that the barcode can be processed at various locations:

• If the barcode will be created by R/3 as an image, then this barcode technology is called "New barcode technology".
• If a simple printer command will be sent to the printer/barcode module, then this barcode technology is called "Old barcode technology".

Can you name which technology do you use? An overview of barcode printing scenarios is in SAP Note #1557674 - "Overview of bar code printing from SAP system".

Hi Imran,

bar codes in smartforms can be printed using ordinary laser printers.I have tried using it.

for this you have to make smartstyles with barcode ..you can use the below mentioned tutorials

Thanks for your reply Gurus. I made bar code according to "New Bar code Technology". I first used SE73 to create bar code, than created custom bar code sticker size format in SPAD and than designed  in smart form. I can see the bar code in print preview, but when i am using TSC TTP 244 Bar code printer. What you think what i may need to do for printing?

is the printer connected to a Windows OS? If yes, could you please create / print a new spool request with Device Type SAPWIN?
