managing items

hi experts,i have an issue , i want to purchase an item with  name "A" ,  and sell the same item to 3 different customers with 3  different name , one item name for one particular customer  (for 1st customer item name should be "B" , for 2nd customer item name should be "c", same case with 3rd ) . i  don't have idea how to manage this in sap B1, please help.  Thanks in Advance

Hi Ranu/Bhushan,

A slight change to my earlier reply that will sort out your query; instead of the marketing PLD picking item description in Item Master, configure a row level UDF in marketing document and apply FMS advised earlier and point your PLD to pick the item descrition from this row level UDF (which essentially will be picking from the UDF set up in item master) when different customer is selected.

Hi Ranu,

Have two UDF in the item master where you will set the names of the same product as B and C; the item descrition in the item master will be for A. Configure FMS in item descrition in marketing document, say sales order, such that when Customer A is selected in marketing document, the item descrition should be A, B as item name (from UDF) when Customer B is selected, so on and so forth.

Hi Issac,

To change the description of master data in item master data, select the item code,automatically system will fetch the description of item from master data, press TAB go to description field change the description as required in refrence to your business partner and then press Ctrl+Tab to move to next feild, if you will not press Ctrl+Tab then the sytem will change the item code according to the description.

               Best way to do this is change the Item in Marketing document using the free-text/UDF field and map that in Layout.

i can do it but my client has authorizations , the person generating invoices for the same item can not edit the ITEM master data.

Use free text field in the marketing document and map the same into PLD.
