Korean Reach compliance

Can someone explain me if SAP provide standard solution to fullfill Korean Reach regulation? If yes, what does it require (add on, additonnal licence, ...). We are running ECC6 EHP6 version.

Thank in advance for your help.

Dear Marc

the answer to your question depends on the content of the legislation. If the current SAP EHS SVT can be used to fulfill the demand of "Korean Reach regulation" then we are fine (and may be need only to customize etc.). If the regulation is so different to the european regulaiton we can expect that SAP should (will) enhance SVT. It can be assumed that if this happens then once again there are two scenarios.

Scenario 1: we need only one "small" OSS note to implement

Scenario 2: if the regulation is to "complex" it can be assumed that the solution will be part of a "SP" and that it will be "downgraded"to support othere SAP customers not using your SAP version

In the last scenario you need to install the SP.

Thank you Christophe for your answer.

This was exactly my point : Does someone know if if SAP provides a standard solution for the Korean Reach which has different rules than the european Reach. If yes how SAP provide it  : OSS note, SP,...?

Marc

Dear Marc

may be just write direct message to Mary Kilgo. She is member of SAP and should be able to answer your question. Marko Lange is as well a good contact to ask. Both are acting here.

If you start more on "high level". then somebody could ask:

1.) is there the need to support something like "eSDS"for Korea as well? if so: what are the needs to enhance the current SAP EHS version? (BUT REMEMBER: SAP is not delivering SDS/MSDS template) If so: at which point in time will this happen,

2.) Keep in mind the important sentence on SAP online help in context of SAP EHS SVT: SAP is only delivering some kind of EHS SVT "framework" (which need not to fit 100% to the legal demand); anything on top must be done/analyzed by you.

If you check REACH demand: it is not always easy to implement SVT for one specific regulation.

I would assume that some discussion should has happened on SAP side as the regulation in korea seems to get in force 2015; therefore one should have a solution latest 2016;

SAP is delivering SP twice a year. I would assume that the first SP this year is up and ready. So if we can expect something, then may be in the next SP.

Hi Marc,

I wanna add few things here, may be helpful for you. Recently I was installing SERC 2014-2 and i see some regulation related to Korean under EHS REGCONT APJ ( SAP Regulatory Content Package for APJ). I think this package will cover all regulation for Korean legislation.

Hope this is useful for you.

Dear Marc

the act and anything around is quite good documentated here: http://www.cirs-reach.com/KoreaTCCA/Korea_REACH_The_Act_on_the_Registration_and_Evaluation_of_Chemic...

On high level:

1.) the act is in force since 01.01.2015

2.) similar to REACH you need to look at some "timeline" which is as well documented in the link (timeline for registration chemistry)

3.) same as REACH: the amount of your "dossier" depends on "limits" and about "hazardous" of your chemistry

4.) similar exemptions as REACh are valid with some "exemptions". e.g: "polymer is also subject to annual reporting requirements as a substance." This is different in cmparison to REACH

As with REACH you must "jointly" register

As with the "REACH Stuff" you have effect on SDS/MSDS as well (here the reference)

Supply Chain Communication

Anyone who transfers a registered chemical substance or preparation containing the substance shall provide the following information to downstream users:

  • registration number;
  • substance name;
  • information about hazard and risk;
  • safety control information;

In the event that a safety data sheet(SDS) is required under the Occupational Safety and Health Act(OSHA), the information mentioned above shall be provided through the SDS.

Conclusion: on first glance there is from my point of view no need that SAP need to "deliver" something. the SVT solution as such can be used. You need onyl detect "how you need to use it".
