Regarding SRM 7.0 EHP2 with ECC EHP4 and ECC EHP6

Helllo Experts,

We are using SRM 7.0 EHP2 with backend ECC EHP4. We are not using any PI related services. Now we are having another backend system which is ECC EHP6. We need to integrate both systems with existing SRM system with PI related services.

I would like to know if we integrate both systems (EHP4 and EHP6) with Existing SRM 7.0 EHP2 then which kind of issues we may face or what will the system constraint or functionality constraint? If we configure on basis of EHP4 then which functionality we can miss?

Kindly suggest . Thanks in advance.

Thanks & Regards,

Abhijeet

Hi Abhijeet,

In fact, from SRM7.0(above) and ECC EHP4(above), some services can be used with PI interface.
However for some customers, they do not want t introduce PI, so idoc can still be used for document transfer.
In your scenario, it is OK to have two ECC systems connected to SRM, one with PI, and another one without PI. The technique used behind this are different.
However please note, old technique can be used for ECC EHP4(above) with SRM 7.0(above), but it may cause some inconsistency issues. So I still recommend you use the new PI system as interface.

Hi lvy,

Thanks Lvy for reply. If we use PI for both systems then in such case which functionalities we will not get for ECC EHP4.

Which scenario will best

1. Configure both system but provide only ECC EHP4 related functionalities for both systems.

2. Configure both system but provide different functionality for individual system.

Kindly suggest.

Thanks & Regards,

Abhijeet

Hi Abhijeet,

None of functionalities will be missing for both ECC EHP4 with SRM and ECC EHP6 with SRM.
With PI system, it is just used as a different transfer media. Of course, although PI system is set up, you may not use it but old transfer technique, which is not recommended.

There is no difference between the functionalities between EHP4 and EHP6, since they are connected to the same SRM system. The functionalities here are only about communication between SRM and ECC.

For the functionalities in ECC side only, it should have some difference, but I can't answer this as SRM expert.
