Dear PP experts,

I am aware of flexible planning process in SAP. But i have a query in transaction MC9B.

We are creating the product hierarchy and defining the proportion for the key figures for the material level. What is the purpose of determining the proportionate by executing the transaction MC9B and how the "Low level nodes" are determined while executing this transaction?

I have checked in google and SCN before posting this query. Please solve my query

Regards,

J.Balakrishnan

Hello,

The proportion for flexible planning is determined on the basis of the planning hierarchy.

Proportional factors for the members of your planning hierarchy calculated with Transaction MC8U

Or transactions MC62/MC63 you can have proportional factors.

In SE16, enter your table SXXXE and check there the hierarchy and the proportional factors.

Please refer consulting note   82745 - Explanations on the 'Calculate proportions' funct.

Hi Bala,

Its basically for dis-aggregating the data from one (higher level) to another level (lower level) on the basis of info structure.

For more check SAP note 841358 & 82745

Let me know if it helped.

Hi Bala,

When you define planning hierarchy you actually define the framework for planning activities in consistent planning. This is based on the combination characteristics of an info structure along with the proportional distribution. This helps you plan the whole structure by using consistent planning.

For example, let say you have planning hierarchy as product groups where families of product is linked from top to bottom in proportion(i.e. from product group on top to the end finished product at bottom). Now when you define the figures for product groups, its gets disaggregated to the lowest product by executing MC9B. Since it’s a consistent planning, changes made at aggregate levels get distributed to all levels.

To summarize it, MC9B calculates the proportions at all the levels till the lowest level (or node) using planning types and macros used.
